A steady market for a great group of bred heifers helped the 2008 Upper MidWest Spring Sale average $2,266. More HERE. 47 lots averaged a sale-record $3,308 in the 2008 edition of the Blue Halter Calf Sale in Bedford, Pennsylvania on April 19. A Large, enthusiastic crowd helped 30 Registered Guernseys average $2,333 and sent animals to 11 states in the 2008 edition of the Kentucky National Show & Sale. The top seller and Grand Champion of the show was Green Ridge Tiller Susie, a fresh Jr. 2-Year-Old with a lovely udder. She sold for $5,000 to George and Kathryn Craft of Sharon Springs, New York. More here. The 2008 Massachusetts Blue Ribbon Calf Sale was held March 29 at the Mallary Arena in West Springfield, MA, the home of the Eastern States Exposition. Fifty-seven lots averaged $1,607 across all breeds, with breed averages being: Ayrshire ($1,250); Brown Swiss ($1,833); Guernsey ($2,367); Holstein ($1,554); Jersey ($1,554); Milking Shorthorn ($1,575); and Red & Whites ($1,750). Top selling Guernsey was Smithfield Challenge Bounty, a Fall Calf from a Banger dam and a VG-85 Nitro granddam.- $3100. Consigned by: Coon Bros. Amenia, NY.
