The 2007 Blue Halter Sale averaged a strong $2,421 on 41 total lots on April 21. A large crowd from all over the eastern US gathered in Bedford, Pennsylvania, for this annual sale that is known for its quality consignments.
Topping the sale at $7,600 was Brown Eden Mozier T Rosa Linda-ET, a springing heifer sired by Tiller. She was consigned by Dr. John Mozier of Louisburg, Kansas, and purchased by Gary Estes of Ozark, Missouri. Rosa Lisa is a full sister to the 2006 HM All-American Summer Yearling and is out of an EX-90 dam backed by five more Very Good dams.
Second high honors went to a December 2005 daughter of Lewis out of a VG-88 Regis with 26,000M. The third dam is EX-91 with 28,000M and 1,600F. This wide-chested, deep-ribbed heifer sold for $5,500 to David and Jason Henisee of Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania.
Rounding out the top three sellers at $5,200 was a September Tiller from a VG-87 Option with 900F. The next dam is EX-95 Altann with 166,000M lifetime and many show accolades to her credit. This heifer will be making her new home in Escalon, California, with Frank and Patti Faria. She was consigned by Aaron Gable of New Enterprise, Pennsylvania.
2 Cows averaged $2,650, 10 Bred Heifers Averaged $2,945 and 29 Open Heifers, including four March calves, averaged $2,224.
The sale was managed by Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders Association under the direction of Jim Trotter. Mike Weimer called the sale while David Smith made the announcements. Dave and Jim Trotter took bids. The sale was expertly clerked by John and Patricia McMurray.
