The 2006 International Guernsey Classic sale averaged $3,257 on 15 lots. 27 embryos averaged $533 each. The average for the 14 females selling was $2,525.
Lot #1, Jens Gold C Blue Spruce-ET, topped the sale, selling to the Blue Spruce Syndicate and Genex for $13,500. He will be the first Idle Gold E Challenge-ET son to be sampled in AI and is from the famous Royal Oak daughter, Spruce, EX-92.
The next highest price of the evening was paid for the first choice female from 4 Challenge pregnancies due in January from Lang Haven Velour Nora, VG-87. Nora has over 25,900M and 1,000F and hails from the "N" family that has produced many exiciting sires and cows. Consigned by Lang Haven Dairy of West Salem, Wisconsin, the choice was purchased by Faria Farms of Escalon, California. The choice was made more exciting as Lang Haven Tiller Nirvana-ET, a maternal family member paraded in the sale ring after being named Reserve Junior Champion of the NGS-Madison that afternoon.
The top-selling live animal was a July '06 Tiller daughter of Dairyman Sharp Rowena, EX-92. Rowena has 24,000M and 1,100F and over 100,000M lifetime. The calf was consigned by Mike Hellenbrand of Cross Plains, Wisconsin, and was purchased by Nells Glow Dairy of Hilmar, California.
Stanley Chupp was the auctioneer for the sale, with Dale Chupp, Bob Griggs and Seth Kohler taking bids. Blaine Crosser read pedigrees. Katie Henson and Adam Cahill clerked the sale. Jennifer Blazek and Cindy Babb presented the animals in the ring. They were cared for and prepared by Jason Robinson and Orion Cattle Services.
