Solid prices and a beautiful summer day marked the Jaris Hill Complete Dispersal on June 9 in Athens, Wisconsin. A standing room-only crowd was on hand for the start of the sale as longtime Registered Guernsey breeders Jim and Doris Bollech prepared for retirement. 58 Registered Guernseys averaged $2,131. 30 cows averaged $2,092, 12 bred heifers averaged $2,392 and 16 open heifers came in at $1,997. A Brown Swiss bred heifer sold for $2,450, a bull calf brought $125 and four units of Tiller semen sold for $120 each.

Topping the sale with an even $4,000 bid was a fresh, second-lactation daughter of Myown Magic Poker. Scored VG-85, Jaris Hills Poker Ellie is out of a VG-87 Trumpet that completed five solid lactations. The granddam was a VG-84 El Gato daughter who made six lactations in her lifetime. Eight members of this family sold. Plucker Farms of Chancellor, South Dakota, purchased Ellie.

The second high seller was a five-year-old daughter of Trotacre Mercury Loral-ET already milking in her fourth lactation, having calved at 1-11, 3-00, 4-00 and 4-11. Scored VG-86 with a VG-88 mammary system, she appeared to have more points coming on both counts. Jaris Hills Loral Mitzi, whose dam was an EX-90 Magician with over 19,000M, sold with three daughters by Maxie, JB and Banger. She sold to Les Hardesty of Greeley, Colorado.

The sale was managed by Guernsey Marketing Service and the Wisconsin Guernsey Breeders’ Association. Stanley Chupp was the auctioneer while Darrel Clark made the announcements. Vic Voigt and Dale Chupp took bids. Hannah Iverson, the Wisconsin Guernsey Princess, and Lynnette Wright clerked the sale. Jason Robinson and Erica Davis of Orion Cattle Services prepared the animals for the sale.
