Excitement filled the sale pavilion at the College of the Ozarks in Branson, Missouri, on Monday, June 20, for the 2005 National  Convention Sale. The college had gone all out to present the top line-up of Registered Guernseys in a beautiful setting and a large crowd had gathered to bid on some of the best Guernseys in the US.

The first three animals through the ring were all contenders for high seller honors, but it was the fourth, Lantz Farm Tiller Respect-ET, that commanded the top bid of the day at $10,000. This young calf is sired by Tiller and out of Breezy Point P Racer, EX-93, the current world record holder from milk and protein. She was consigned by Lantz Farm of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, and was purchased by Ernie Berousek, Lily Lane Guernseys, of Yukon, Oklahoma, with Spring Walk Farm of Ohio contending.

Selling for $9,900 was Lang Haven Tiller Aspen-ET, a September 2004, Tiller daughter from an EX-90 Storm with over 1,000F. The next dam was an EX-90 Perfecto. Aspen ranks #70 in the breed for PA CPI. She was consigned by Don and Kathy Langrehr of West Salem, Wisconsin, and was purchased by John and Bonnie Ayars and Sons of Mechanicsburg, Ohio.

Selling for $9,000 was the 2004 All-Amercian Jr. Two-Year-Old, Howerton Farms Bossman Kelsie, EX-90. Due in September, this perfectly balanced young cow completed a lactation over 18,000M. She was consigned by Howerton Farms of Buffalo, Missouri, and purchased by Elizabeth Roedl of Edgewood, Illinois.

Rounding out the top four was Spring River Royal Happy, VG-88, a first-crop daughter of Aldens Valiant Royal-ET. Just fresh with her second calf, Happy is out of an EX-91 two-time Honorable Mention All-Amercian with 18,000M. The next dam was also an All-American nominee and was scored VG-88. Happy was consigned by Kenlee and Sarah Calvin of Golden City, Missouri, and was purchased by John and Bonnie Ayars and Sons of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, for $8,700.

The sale was managed by Guernsey Marketing Service and Chupps Farm Auction Co. Stanley Chupp handled the gavel while Blaine Crosser made announcements. Dale Chupp, Bob Griggs and Jim Trotter took bids. Cindy and Maria Chupp clerked the sale. Cattle were presented by Kendy Gable and Lindsey Messick. Jason Robinson, Mike Hickman, Nick Smith and Brian Baird prepared the cattle with assistance from students from the College of the Ozarks.
