66 embryos sold for an average of $585 per embryo! Ten lots sold for over $5,000 in the 2006 National Guernsey Convention Sale on June 26, 2006, in Indianapolis, Indiana. 37 live lots and choices averaged $4,108, while a total of 66 embryos averaged $585 each. Bidding was brisk from over 300 attendees at the convention as well as from phone bids from coast to coast. The cattle were conveniently housed in a tent in the parking lot of the hotel, right next to a large indoor water park -bringing many curious onlookers, although no bids were taken from the waterslide area. Topping the sale for $10,500 was the chance to pick any animal from the highly respected Villa Crest Herd in Goshen, Indiana. Convention attendees were able to visit the herd earlier in the week and saw several All-Americans on display. The Four Winds Syndicate of Hartland, Wisconsin, was the high bidder on this exciting opportunity. Picture Two open heifers brought the identical price of $6,750 for second high in the sale. Ripley Farms Royalty Kortina was consigned by Ripley Farms of Cortland, NY. A daughter of a VG Regis purchased in a previous National Sale, the granddam is a VG-88 Glacier with over 100,000M lifetime with 5.2% fat and 3.7% protein.
