Rae Mar Guernseys Combined Dispersal Selling 110 Registered Guernseys Saturday, August 23, 2008 2 Great Herds - 1 Great Location Fayette County Fairgrounds - West Union, Iowa 11:00 am A Beautiful late summer day in West Union, Iowa, greeted visitors from throughout the midwest for the complete dispersals of the Rae Mar Herd, owned by Dick and Kay Troester of Elkader, Iowa, and the Coteau Hills Herd, developed by Tim Lindgren of South Shore, South Dakota. 99 Lots averaged $2,412 including 7 baby calves sold with their dams. 50 Cows Averaged $2,369; 14 Bred Heifers averaged $2,654; 22 Open Heifers averaged $2,411; 18 calves born in 2008 averaged $1,664 and 2 bulls averaged $1,125. Topping the sale at $5500 was a fancy Spring Yearling for the fall shows with a pedigree that explained her good looks. Rae Mar Deemands Lyndee is sired by Four Winds Deemand-ET and is from a VG full sister to the 2004 Res. All-American Sr. 2-Year-Old, Fayette Lily, EX-92. She was purchased by Dale and Stanley CHupp of Inola, Oklahoma, with Dick Troester retaining an interest. The second high seller also hailed from the Lily Family. She is Rae Mar Regis Lind-ET, a VG-87 sister to the EX-92 Lily and sired by Marodore Enhancer Regis-ET. She is due in April. Trenton Troester, Caleb Nicley and Taylor Graves of Parksville, Kentucky, were the successful bidders at $5,100. The top seller from the Coteau Hills Herd was a Fall Yearling due in November and sired by Lantz Farm Enhancer Vilter-ET. Her dam was a VG-80 Goliath that completed 5 lactations with a top record of 800F. The next dam was a VG-86 Hot Shot with 20,000M and 950F, followed by a VG-87 Frank. She was purchased for $3,900 by Jens Lantz and Marshall Anderson of Ellsworth, Wisconsin. Of particular note were a pair of milking Aaron daughters who, along with an Aaron bred heifer, averaged $3,833. Four open heifers sired by Golden J Les George averaged $2,300. Four open daughters of Mar Ral Tiller Mission averaged $2,325. The sale was managed by Guernsey Marketing Service and Chupps Auction Company of Inola, Oklahoma. Stanley Chupp and Dale Chupp shared auctioneering duties while Brian Schnebly and Jon Lantz took bids from the large crowd. Darrel Clark made the pedigree announcements. Jilliam Walther, Hannah Iverson and Kim Lakey manned the clerking table. Barb Degroote, Jim Hammerand and Jens Lantz presented the cattle in the ring. Orion Cattle Services of Ohio prepared the animals undert the direction of Jason Robinson with Erica Davis, Abe Cobb, Mike Hickman, Tony Galgowski, Caleb Arp and Mark Fischer.
