Alton & Eileen Wood and James & Kent Zarling dispersed all their partnership cattle in the Sunset View Dispersal held at the farm in Plainview, Minnesota, on October 28, 2010. Extreme wind and cold changed sale plans several times, but a great crowd of Guernsey breeders from the midwest and both coasts converged in Plainview to help 63 animals average $1,745. 6 baby calves averaged $954, 21 open heifers averaged $1,240, 14 bred heifers averaged $1,768 and 28 cows averaged $1,907.
The high seller was a Glacier daughter with an EX-92 mammary system milking in her second lactation and projected over 20,000M. Her dam was a Reward that made over 17,000M, then a VG-86 Poker and two more VG dams. She was purchased by Thomas Bailey of New Sharon, Maine, for $4,000.
Guernsey Marketing Service managed the sale with Stan Chupp handling the gavel and Seth Johnson making pedigree announcements. Dale Chupp and Jim Hammerand took bids. Jillian Walther and Donna Anderson clerked the sale.
