Buyer List

The usually robust market for bred heifers and milk cows at the Upper Midwest Spring Sale illustrated the stress that is widespread in the dairy industry as 67 live animals averaged $1,444. 18 Bred Heifers averaged $1536, 34 cows averaged $1551 and 14 calves averaged $1054. 3 breeding-age bulls averaged $833 while 9 embryos sold for an average of $280 each. The sale featured 30 animals from Chupp Farms of Inola, Oklahoma, and provided an attractive group of youthful cows, many of which were recently fresh.

The top seller was a tall, long and fancy four-year-old fresh last fall and due again in November. She is sired by Hollow View S Luke and out of a VG-82 Bossman with over 800F. The dam was nominated All-American Spring Calf in 2000. The EX-90 Granddam is the well-known Dari Dale Fortune Daisy, who was Res. Junior Champion at World Dairy Expo and HM All-American Jr. 2-Year-Old and made over 23,000M and 1,200F. She was consigned by Tyler and Paige Chupp of Inola, Oklahoma, and purchased for $4,800 by Friendship Farm of Millbrook, New York.

Paul Ewing and Jim Peck of Spencerville, Ohio, travelled north to take home an EX-90 Deemand daughter for $3,200. Lanas Place Deemand Naomi is due in September and has a top record over 19,000M and 800F. Her VG-88 dam has over 18,000M and 750F. She was consigned by Justin Chupp of Inola, Oklahoma.

Brian and Kristi Dinderman of Orangeville, Illinois, paid $3,150 for a big, strong Jr. 2-Year-Old sired by Friendship Regal-ET. She is due in August and is out of a VG-87 Glacier with 18,000M and 875F. Her third and fourth dams are both VG-85. She was consigned by Steve and Debbie Nuttleman of Bangor, Wisconsin.

Two heifers calves were born at the sale from Chupp Farm cattle. One the night before the sale sold for $650 the next day while another was born immediately following the sale, providing a quick return for her buyer.

The sale was managed by Guernsey Marketing Service, WI GBA and MN GBA. Stanley Chupp was the auctioneer with Darrel Clark making the announcements. Dale Chupp and Vic Voigt took bids from a large crowd. Karen Anderson, Dan Fritsche and Donna Anderson clerked the sale. Deb Lakey, Don Langrehr and Darrel Clark took care of all the on-site accommodations for the sale. The animals were cared for by Jason Robinson, Erica Davis, Abe Cobb, Tony Galgowski, Kristie Johnson, Richard Terpstra and Josh and Caleb Arp.
