2011 Upper MidWest Spring Sale Saturday, April 30 West Salem, Wisconsin Managed by GMS & WI GBA
The 2011 Upper Midwest Spring Sale was a sparkling confirmation of the continuing excitement surrounding the Guernsey breed this spring and the interest in acquiring solid Guernsey genetics. The sale was held in West Salem, Wisconsin. The sale this year provided affordable cows and bred heifers for herd replacements while boasting a notable increase in the pedigree quality over previous sales in the series. 48 females averaged $2,352. 62 females averagd $1,444 in 2010.
Two lots shared top seller status on the day. An Ace Sr. 2 due with her second calf in September sold for $3,800 to Thomas Bailey of New Sharon, Maine. She boasts 4 Excellent dams, all with over 900F, and was Nominated All-American Fall Yearling in Milk in 2010. Her EX-91 dam has over 150,000M lifetime. She was consigned by Knapps Guernseys of Epworth, Iowa. Dr. John Mozier of Louisburg, Kansas, brought 3 animals up to the sale and sold an Aaron bred heifer from an EX-91 Vigilant dam for $3,800 to John and Pam Arnold of Waverly, Iowa. Her dam made a top record over over 26,000M and 1,100F. The next 4 dams were scored VG and a maternal sister to the heifer was 6th Sr. 2-Year-Old at Madison in 2010. The sale was managed by Guernsey Marketing Service and Wisconsin Guernsey Breeders. Stan Chupp was the autioneer with Seth Johnson making pedigree announcements. Darrel Clark and Wade Schonek took bids from the large crowd in attenance.

Lot 3, An Ace from 4 EX Dams. She was Nom. All-American Fall Yearling in ilk in 2010. Due back in September, she was one of the high sellers, going to Thomas Bailey of Maine for $3,800.
Lot 17, an Altanic from a VG-85 Full Sister to the 2010 AA Jr. 2. She sold for $3,000 to Troy Hill of Pennsylvania.
