A large crowd gathered in West Salem, Wisconsin, for the Upper Mid-West Spring Sale on April 29, 2006. Traditionally, this sale has focused on providing bred heifers and cows for herd replacements. This year’s edition was no different and, with 98 head cataloged, the sale promised to provide an excellent opportunity to find exactly what a buyer needed. 79 full lots of Registered Guernseys averaged $1,933. Eight embryos sold in two lots averaged $356 each and one newborn calf sold for $750.

15 open heifers averaged $1,460, 33 bred heifers averaged $2,021 and 31 cows averaged $2,023.

Cattle sold to eleven states including: Wisconsin, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Ohio, Missouri, Minnesota, Kansas, Illinois, Iowa and California.

Topping the sale at $3,100 was a extra fancy September calf with a deep pedigree. Rollandia Banger Trina was consigned by Harry and Marge Swyers and Family of Amery, Wisconsin. She is sired by My Day Bliss Banger-ET and out of a VG-80 Ronald daughter that is backed by six VG or EX dams. Nells Glow Dairy of Hilmar, California, purchased her.

The 2006 Wisconsin Guernsey Princess, Sandra Kirchner of Clintonville, Wisconsin, purchased the second high seller of the day for $2,700. Goldprint Luxury Eliza is a Luxury daughter born in July 2004 and due to Banger in September. She is out of a Logic, then a VG Bossman, then a VG-88 Reserve All-American sired by Perfecto. She was consigned by Olivia, Kelsey and Ashley Bridges and Sarah Wylie of Shelby, North Carolina.

The sale was managed by GMS, Wisconsin GBA and Minnesota GBA. Stanley Chupp called the sale while Dale Chupp, Chris Skaar and Vic Voigt took bids. Nicki and Cheryl Tyrrell clerked the sale. Jason Robinson, Erica Davis, David Croshaw, Josh Arp and Craig Martin prepared the cattle.
